The Shefa School is a Jewish community day school in Manhattan serving students in grades K-8 who benefit from a specialized educational environment in order to develop their strengths while addressing their learning challenges. We specifically serve students with language-based learning disabilities who have not yet reached their potential levels of success in traditional classroom settings. Shefa is a pluralistic community school, serving families across the range of Jewish involvement and observance. At Shefa, we believe that differences are a source of strength and that we are all enriched by the diversity of perspectives.
This position includes the following key responsibilities:
● Substitute teaching on a daily basis for small groups of students in Grades 6-8 across a range of subjects
● Assisting in classes and schoolwide duties such as lunch and recess duty
● Helping with school projects as assigned

The ideal candidate will have a range of experience working with students across ages and subjects. We seek teachers who are fast learners, flexible, and able to follow pre-determined lesson plans while also taking initiative to make adjustments when necessary. We seek teachers who thrive in collaborative environments, who are reflective and committed to growth, and who have strong communication skills.
