Application Process

The Shefa School specifically serves students with language-based learning disabilities, including dyslexia and other language challenges, who have average to above average intelligence and have not reached their potential levels of success in traditional classroom settings.

We accept applications for students entering grades K-7, pending an available spot. Admissions are on a rolling basis, and you are welcome to submit an application at any time, though we encourage you to apply as soon as possible because space is very limited. A thorough application process helps us determine whether our program will meet your child’s needs.

The application process begins by submitting the Information Request Form and registering for an upcoming Information Session. Please visit Admissions Events for upcoming Information Session dates and registration. Once we receive your information request we will send you the link and login information to access your online application. We require the following materials for an application to be reviewed:

Once the online application and all materials have been submitted, we review the materials to see if the student is a potential match for our program. If he or she is a potential match, we will invite the student for a visit at Shefa.

We are eager to support  you through the process. Please feel free to call us at any time with any questions or concerns you may have.

Financial Aid

The Shefa School makes every effort to ensure that tuition is not a deterrent for any student who wishes to enroll. Shefa offers tuition support to qualified applicants based on the individual needs of the families and the availability of funding. Because funding is limited, families interested in applying for financial aid should do so early in the process, preferably as soon as they submit an application. The online application is administered by FACTS. To apply, please visit the FACTS website by following this link: https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/4JPWC.

If you would like more information on tuition support, please email financialaid@shefaschool.org. Information shared during the tuition support process is held in the strictest of confidence.

Non-Discrimination Policy

The Shefa School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights and privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at our school. We do not discriminate on the bases of race, color, gender identity, sexual preference, national or ethnic origin in administration of our educational and admissions policies, and other school-administered programs.

We do not exclude qualified handicapped students from our programs if the student can, with “minor adjustments,” be provided an appropriate education within the scope of the program or activity. The Shefa School does not charge more to the handicapped student, unless such charge is justified by a substantial increase in cost to the school. The Shefa School complies with the same evaluation and placement requirements as public schools. Shmuela Nemet, our school nurse (nurse@shefaschool.org), is the coordinator of our efforts to serve students with handicaps.

The Shefa School prohibits and will not tolerate any harassment. Any student or parent who believes that he or she has experienced or witnessed any form of harassment should immediately report the harassment to our Operations Manager (our Title IX coordinator, Miranda Jones, at miranda.jones@shefaschool.org) or our Head of School. If the complaint involves the Head of School or another senior staff member, please inform the President of the Board of Trustees.
